Furnaces in New Construction

Can you use a Bryant/Carrier furnace during construction?  Yes, but there are a few requirements that need to be met so that you do not void the warranty.  Here are the things you need to be aware of:

1.  It must comply with the First "Caution" and "Location requirements" listed in the Installation Manual.
2.  It must be permanently installed, all ducts connected and sealed to the Furnace, TWO VENT PIPES CONNECTED AND TERMINATED OUTSIDE THE STRUCTURE FOR CONDENSING FURNACES.
3.  Both Furnace doors must be installed, all penetrations sealed with grommets or appropriate means, intake/exhaust vents completely sealed.
4.  Furnace must be controlled by a Thermostatic control (not "Hot Wired").
5.  The Return Air temperature must be maintained between 55-80 Degrees Fahrenheit with NO NIGHT SETBACK or intermittent operation. (use of the furnace while the structure is under construction is deemed "intermittent operation" per the installation instructions).
6.  Temp rise must be within nameplate specifications.
7.  A "good quality" filter must be used and changed frequently.  A "Hog Hair" style filter is not acceptable filtration during construction.
8.  Drywall dust and construction debris must be cleaned from ALL HVAC system components and duct work after construction.
9.  A new filter must be installed after construction is complete.
10. Derate furnace and verity proper operating conditions on initial start-up.
11.  Ensure ALL DRYWALL DUST is cleaned from the motors, circuit board, etc as soon as possible after construction.

We have seen too many premature failures due to improper use of the furnaces during construction.  Careful attention to these requirements will save your company, your customer and your builder from unnecessary nuisance failures and complaints.

Thanks for all you do to promote and support the Bryant/Carrier brands!
