Many
times Duct Free Split systems (Daikin, Mitsubishi, Sanyo, etc) experience
refrigerant leaks from the flare fittings. This has been the
"Achilles Heel" of DFS systems for many years.
There
is an easy solution to this problem. By educating our dealers to use a
flaring tool that has an "eccentric burnishing cone" instead of a
standard flaring tool, the flare connection should not leak. This creates
a Flare that is far superior and much smoother, to better mate with the brass
factory flare.
Also,
there is quite often a tendency to over-torque the flare nuts. The proper
procedure is to use a Torque Wrench and Torque it to the manufacturer's specs.
This number varies based on model/size and liquid/vapor lines. The
best thing to do is check the Installation Manual for specifics.
Using
"Leak Lock" on the threads will do nothing to help this flare seal.
The seal is done solely at the flare mating surface.
Just
a side note. When searching a .PDF for key words, use "CTRL"
key and "F" to pull up a search window. Then you can let the
computer do the looking for you. (ie. searching "Torque" in a
Daikin Manual).
